Okay, so it's Saturday now. Better late than never, right?

1. "Time Bomb Town" by Lindsey Buckingham from Back to the Future Motion Picture Soundtrack. My love for Lindsey Buckingham knows no bounds. This is a fantastic track that's very different from most of the other songs he's contributed to soundtracks. It is actually one of my favorite Lindsey songs and I would LOVE to hear him play it on his upcoming tour.

2. "Send Yourself to Work" by All City Affairs from Bees. ACA is actually Peter Andreadis from the wonderful Chicago band, Baby Teeth. Peter is a great guy and was kind enough to be my first interview for my almost-defunct blog. You should check his stuff out, and Baby Teeth's as well.

3. "The Time Warp" from Rocky Horror Picture Show. It's been a really long time since I caught a midnight showing of the Rocky at my local indie movie theatre. I might have to remedy that soon.

4. "Flash" by Queen from Flash Gordon Soundtrack. My brother and I were obsessed with this movie when we were kids. We used to run around the house singing "Flash...ah ahhhhh." We were odd children.

5. "Flight of the Passing Fancy" by Squirrel Nut Zippers from Hot. Every time I hear a SNZ song, I think of my time working at The Body Shop (the cosmetics retailer...not the type for cars). My co-workers and I were all in love with this band and saw them together three or four times. They really did put on a great live show.

I too only had songs come up with the word "time" in it. I checked my playlist but I guess I just don't have that many songs that have the other songs. Oh well. I also have some songs that others have already listed.

1. "Ain't No Time"--Grace Potter & The Nocturnals from This is Somewhere. I love this album!

2. "Lost Time"--Maria Taylor from Lynn Teeter Flower. Beautiful vocals and music.

3. "Everytime"--Donavon Frankenreiter from Move by Yourself. Nice, mellow music. Reminds me alot of Jack Johnson.

4. "Anytime"--My Morning Jacket from Z. I am pretty sure that the last time I put up my Friday 5, I had a different song from this same album.

5. "Life During Wartime"--Talking Heads. Hard to beat the Heads!

KathyB - are you sure you have "Match Any of the following rules" selected in your Smart Playlist? Are you using iTunes?

Happy Summer Weekend all, here's my Friday Night 5.....

1. “My Summertime Thang” by the Time, from Pandemonium (1990) – Still throwing around the idea of going to Vegas to catch the Time at the Flamingo, but I gue$$ it’$ not the wi$e$t deci$ion at thi$ juncture.

2. “Race Against Time” by U2, from The Joshua Tree (Deluxe Edition Bonus Disk) – can’t say I’ve spent a lot of time with this Bonus Disc of B-sides and outtakes from the era, but I really like the sound of this one. This was a B-side to “Where the Streets Have No Name”. You can really hear the Daniel Lanois influence on this one.

3. “Stop Time” by Horace Silver & the Jazz Messengers, from Horace Silver & the Jazz Messengers (1955) – I have a decent amount of jazz in my library. Always refreshing to hear, and a testament to the timelessness of the sound. A 53 year old tune that cooooks baby.

4. “Let’s Work” by Prince, from Controversy (1981) – My favorite Controversy track. Did I ever mention I like this fella Prince’s music?

5. “In My Time of Dying” by Led Zeppelin, from Physical Graffiti (1975) – What can really be said? A bona fide classic album, with nary a weak song to be found.

I think I’ll continue on with this playlist, I like where this is going…

1. "Break This Time" by Alejandro Escovedo from The Boxing Mirror - One of my favorites from this CD. You really can't go wrong with Alejandro.

2."Ain't No Time" by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals from This is Somewhere - Very nice

3. "One Time One Night" by Los Lobos from Los Lobos: Just Another Band from East L.A. - They got that East L.A. country twang thang going on here!

4. "Mustt Mustt (Lost In His Work)" by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan from Mustt Mustt - An amazing singer from Pakistan. He sang songs from the mystical Sufi tradition. I don't know what he's singing, but it's great.

5. "To Be Someone (Didn't We Have a Nice Time)" by The Jam from The Sound of the Jam - Sometimes you just have to have a little Jam in your day.

How come every time I play this lately, I get only ONE WORD in my shuffle? I don't have anything but "time" for the next 15 songs. I even double-checked the playlist to make sure I had actually put the other words on it.

1. "Summertime" by Sidney Bechet. This is the transition between last week and this one. :)

2. "Long Time Ago" by Golden Smog from "Another Fine Day." It's OK, but there are better songs on the album.

3. "How Many Times" by Zack Hexum from "The Story So Far..." (2006) Another iTunes single of the week that I didn't care for too much, but didn't hate enough to get rid of.

4. "Who Knows Where the Time Goes?" by Fairport Convention from "Unhalfbricking." Finally, something that makes me happy that it came up. And it fits the theme of the week extremely well!

5. "Time for Me to Come Down" by Amy Rigby from "Diary of a Mod Housewife" (1996) I LOVE this album. It's one of those that I play over and over, and one of the few where I put the entire thing into my iTunes.

1. "Sometimes" by Ours from "MTV2 Handpicked, Vol. 1". If you played this for me, I wouldn't be able to name it or tell you it was in my collection. Sounds like a million other bands, but not bad though.

2. "Big Time" by Peter Gabriel from "Hit (Disc 1)". Never one of my favourite Peter Gabriel songs.

3. "No Time This Time" by The Police from "Message In A Box: The Complete Recordings". There are very few bad Police songs. Wish they would have found their way here on the tour.

4. "Time Has Come Today" by Chambers Bros. from "Rock: The Train Kept A Rollin'". Wicked little song.

5. "Fourth Time Around" by Bob Dylan from "Vanilla Sky". Cameron Crowe movies usually have kick ass soundtracks (thanks to Nancy Wilson for this one).

Mid-afternoon here in the Midwest, and here we go:

1. "Work Your Magic" by Melanie Mason from "Bendin' The Blues," 2001. Every time something from this CD pops up, I think that I need to listen to the whole thing at once, and I always forget. Great voice, great sounds behind, and this one's especially spooky.

2. "Round-Up Time In Texas" by the Girls of the Golden West, Bluebird 5382, 1933. Not sure where I got this one, but I like a dose of old-time western music next to Bjork now and then.

3. "Passing By Blues" by Howlin' Wolf, RPM 340, 1951. An elemental force of nature, the Wolf was.

4. "Quicksilver Dreams" by Townes Van Zandt, Freddy Fender & Rubin Ramos from "Texas Rain," about 1995. For the album, Van Zandt invited all his friends to come by, and it's a grand country time.

5. "Jumpin' Jack Flash/Youngblood" by Leon Russell from the "Concert for Bangladesh," 1971. Probably my favorite track from George Harrison's noble experiment.

Well, how about that? Only one from the Sixties or Seventies!
