Introducing Ickmusic DIY

July 22nd, 2008 by Pete - - Posted in Miscellaneous |

Good citizens of the interwebs, I invite you to a new Ickmusic site: Ickmusic DIY. And I invite you to - yes - Do It Yourself.

The concept here is simple: allow you, the reader (or the blogger, or the musician, or whoever), to completely control the content of a music blog. By registering on the new site, you’re automatically a contributor. Write your post, and when you’re ready to publish it for the masses, just click “Submit for Review” to shoot it off to me and Michael.

Will I regret this one day? Hopefully not. For better or worse, I have faith that there’s more good people than bad out there, and I hope to keep the evil forces away.

So whaddya say? Have a go at it. Post about a new band you like, a classic album, review a concert, talk about a song, post a YouTube video; the choice is yours. It’s your thang, do what you wanna do! Know someone who may be interested? Let ‘em know.

We’ll all see where it goes. Maybe it takes off, maybe it fizzles out. Let’s find out together…

More info can be found on the About Ickmusic DIY page.

DIY = Punk -In the spirit of DIY, here’s a few Sex Pistols shows from their first and only U.S. tour in early 1978. The links are posted in order of quality. The Atlanta show is great. The SF show is really good. The Memphis and San Antonio shows sound like you’re listening to them while you’re puking in a filthy bathrooom stall while all the toilets are flushing.

Atlanta - Great Southeast Music Hall (5 January 1978)
San Francisco (Last Pistols show with Sid Vicious) - Winterland (14 January 1978)
Memphis - Taliesin Ballroom (6 January 1978)
San Antonio - Randy’s Rodeo (8 January 1978)

The Sex Pistols at Randy’s Rodeo?? Yeah, I know. See this old post and the comments section for some backstory.

R.I.P. Joe - By the way, Ickmusic DIY’s banner features the late great Joe Strummer. For what it’s worth, I dedicate it to Joe.
