1. Dave Matthews Band – “Halloween” – a buddy of mine just, um, loaned me the entire discography of DMB. I’ve enjoyed some stuff over the years, but never given ol’ Dave a real chance. So here i go.

2. John Doe and the Sadies – “I Still Miss Someone”

3. Tom Waits – “On the Nickel” – probably my favorite Tom Waits ballad. Gorgeous.

4. Arab Strap – “Love Detective”

5. George Clinton & His Gangsters of Love – “It’s All In The Game” – this is a wacky and enjoyable album

This is one of those “Do you really want to know?” weeks.

1. “Technical Difficulties” from the Philadelphia Cast of “1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.” I think this was recorded for a radio station or something back in the ’60s, and this track is exactly what it says it is–three minutes of very bad sound and engineers talking about trying to get the feed back up. I guess it’s so when one listens to the show, one doesn’t think that three minutes instantaneously went by on stage.

2. “Utah” by the Mike Tichy Disaster from “When the Sun Went Down” (2005). A pretty nice folk-y song.

3. “Domino” (live) by Van Morrison from “It’s Too Late to Stop Now” (1974)

4. “On the Road” by Béla Fleck from “Mountain Stage Tribute to John Hartford” (year unknown)

5. “Coconut Telegraph” by Jimmy Buffett from “Live in Hawaii” (2005). To distinguish it from the four other versions of “Coconut Telegraph” I have. Yes, I’m a Parrothead.

By the way, thanks for the recommendation of Sarah Jarosz’s album last week!
