As bootlegs go, the tour that supported Bruce’s Darkness on the Edge of Town has to be my favorite (followed closely by The River). My favorite show? Without question, it’s July 7th, 1978 at the Roxy – a small club show in L.A. The quality is perfect, the intensity unmatched. In fact, let me play [...]

With only four shows left on the Working On A Dream tour (wrapping up in Buffalo on November 22nd), and with much buzz about how the band will be taking some sort of extended hiatus, now’s the time to savor and cherish what Bruce and the Band have been bringing all year – and that’s [...]

The Boss and his E Street Band kicked off a 5 night run at Giants Stadium tonight – the final shows for the venue. In honor of the stadium’s impending doom, Bruce kicked off the evening with a new song – possibly & probably called “Wrecking Ball”.

“Sea of Heartbreak” is one of those classics you recognize when you hear it, you enjoy it, but you really know nothing about the history or origin of the song. Well, that’s my experience anyway. After hearing Rosanne Cash’s new version, with Bruce Springsteen on harmonies, and listening about 5-6 times in a row, it [...]

In 1973, John Fogerty released his solo debut album, The Blue Ridge Rangers – a collection of country, rock and gospel covers- every instrument and every vocal part belonging to John.
On September 1st, John’s back with a whole new collection of favorite tunes, with The Blue Ridge Rangers Rides Again. Once again, the record is [...]

While I enjoy some much needed vacation time – away from work, and away from staying current on ol’ Ickmusic, I had to pass on some gems from Bruce’s European tour. On July 21st and 23rd, the Italian cities of Turino and Udine got treated to some really special shows, where 10 songs made their [...]

A Happy Fourth of July weekend to my American bros and sisses. And now, live from the Capitol Theater in Passaic, NJ – 1978 – Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band with the best dang 4th of July rock & roll song. Ever.
RIP Phantom Dan.

Fist clenching, goosebump inducing stuff!! The Boss joined the Gaslight Anthem onstage at Glastonbury. This 2 minute clip is enough to get me revved up! Gahhhhrrrr!!!
the 59 sound – bruce springsteen & gaslight anthem( glasto )by runawaydream
And I just read that Bruce opened his set with an acoustic version of Joe Strummer’s “Coma Girl”. [...]

Not only did Bonnaroo bring together two of my favorites in the form of a Phish-Springsteen collaboration, but, as it turned out, Bruce also found time to catch Sunday’s set by Band of Horses. And as you can see from some brand new pics posted to BoH’s blog, Bruce hung around to meet Ben Bridwell [...]

As a Bruce and Phish fan for more than a quarter century and almost 20 years respectively, my mind was just about blown last night when I was reading through my Twitter feed, and saw this from Bruce’s official Twitter:
I guess the opportunity was ripe, with Phish and the Boss co-headlining the festival, but it [...]

Time is a manmade invention, Pete. 60 years old seems like a heavy milestone, doesn’t it? The best part with Bruce is that he is still writing, playing and discovering music with the same spirit we all dig him for. That spirit is immaterial and timeless.
Now excuse me while I go blast “Darkenss” at full volume and drink cheap wine while doing it.

I first saw Bruce in 74 or 75 in a small club in Miami. It is nearly impossible to believe he is 60, for to do so admits that I too am getting older.
I am with you on Brilliant Disguise. An incredible song. Saw the Tunnel of Love tour in Munich. Another milestone in my Bruce groupie phase.

I would reckon that this live ‘Brilliant’ is from his show on 16th November 1990. A very early acoustic show – at the LA Shrine a charity gig – I have fantastic bootleg from the second night where he makes a very similar plea for silence, and same song structure/instrumentation.

Thanks Brad.I have a boot from that second night too (Prodigal Son at the Shrine). I should’ve figured that one out myself!
