Joe Strummer, 8 Years Gone

Another year passes without Joe Strummer, as we enter into our ninth year without the self-described “punk-rock warlord”.  It was December 22nd, 2002 when Joe Strummer died unexpectedly at the age of 50 – 50! – because of an undiagnosed heart defect. It’s still hard to fathom a world without Joe Strummer, and still hard to believe he’s never coming back.

But the music lives on.

I put together a YouTube video playlist tonight featuring a few of my favorites. Click the Play button, sit back, and take a moment to appreciate a true legend, gone way too soon.

While you’re enjoying the video playlist, download a great Mescaleros show from 1999, in the fair city of Philadelphia, PA. Check out the set list below.

I’m down for making December 22nd an all-Joe Strummer day. Let’s fire up our Clash and our Mescaleros, our Walker soundtracks… crank it up and let the world her Joe!!
