Springsteen’s Magic to be released on Vinyl a Week Earlier than the CD (Sept. 25th)
It looks like I’ll be putting my new turntable to good use on September 25th!
From this article on Billboard:
In an unusual move, Bruce Springsteen’s new album, “Magic,” is expected to be released on vinyl a week before its CD version hits stores. The vinyl is due Sept. 25 via Columbia, while the CD will arrive Oct. 2. A handful of major releases have appeared on vinyl prior to CD; Pearl Jam released its 1994 album, “Vitalogy,” on vinyl two weeks early, prompting a premature No. 55 debut on The Billboard 200.

This is very cool news! I love my turntable…except that I need to get it fixed right now. But this is a good reason to do so!

Fix that thing, Thierry… 😉
And Thanks WDCBruceFan…

Where would one purchase vinyl in 2007?
Pete
Dan – I called a local “record” store (Zia Records in Chandler, AZ) and had them order one for me. You might do the same to any local record/CD store in your area. Where are ya?
Dan
Long Island. The last local independant CD/used record store just closed about 2 months ago. But I am in Manhattan during the week.

I’m guessing http://www.insound.com will probably have the LP for sale.
Also, I know, I know, Pete. It’s been a terrible summer – in the last two months, my iPod hard drive has died (2 months after the end of the extended warranty), my computer’s cd player stopped working (and I haven’t had time to bring it in for repairs), and last week my turntable stopped working just as I was about to listen to the copy of the first Records LP (with bonus 7-inch!) that I’d just found for a buck. Oh, and the original copy of the first Judee Sill LP that I’d just gotten in the mail.
A terrible summer, I tell you!
Pete
Ouch Thierry – that’s a bad summer for a music fanatic!
